Tonsil Hockey is a Wes power pop trio consisting of Jason Katzenstein, Zak Malik, and Adrien DeFontaine. They released their EP Good Luck on Tuesday, delivering three well-produced tracks full of crunchy power chords, catchy hooks, and mushy teenage angst.
Let’s Party Hats! Hats! Hats! just self-released their Pain Hurts EP, a 13-minute collection of distorted madness, exacted aggression, and almost-discernable samples. The band is made up of three musicians familiar to many of those on campus who make music and attend many concerts: Adam Johnson ’14 (vocals/guitar), Sean Winnik ’14 (vocals/ saxophone/guitar), and Nate Repasz ’14 (drums). The group has become a staple on campus this year, performing at The Mash, Art House, and soon Eclectic, where they’re performing this Thursday with Diarrhea Planet.
Coming to Eclectic this Saturday at 10 p.m, is indie rock band Speedy Ortiz. Featuring bass player Darl Ferm (Wesleyan ’12), the band is a blend of thoughtful lyrics and 90s sensibilities, and are coming with great anticipation.
Wanna know what a Diarrhea Planet would smell like? Probably not. Hopefully not. But what would it sound like? Apparently, like 6 best friends, 4 riffing guitars, endless chanting, and as much cheap beer as you can imagine. In other words, a whole lot of fucking fun. Hit the jump to read more about the glorious Nashville band known as Diarrhea Planet, coming to The Eclectic Society this Thursday.
Happy Halloween, dummies! Had a trying week? Ready to eat some candy and forget all that troubles you? Well maybe you could use a soundtrack for that weekend of fun. Hit the jump to see what musical happening are going on this weekend, from straight up rock n roll à la The Boss to a wild cross-dressing party of Eclectic proportions.
Drones (Keenan Burgess ’16), previously known as k∆leidoscope, recently dropped a remix of newly famous indie-pop singer Lorde’s “Tennis Courts”. Burgess' cloudy remix takes the original song to a completely different dimension, allowing you to forget that it was ever sung by a 16-year-old New Zealander. The juxtaposition between the distorted, slowed-down vocals and the song's bumpin’ beat create a blurring dizziness, leaving you in a drunken state of mind as you find yourself swaying shamelessly to the beat. Be sure to check out more of Drones’ remixes and originals on his soundcloud.
